With the weather so cold in Canada right now, the time seems right to take a break from the dreary winter and bask in the "Heatwave"...
Hand'Solo Records and the Backburner crew are excited to announce the release of the video for the first single (and title track) from their new album, Heatwave. Toolshed's Timbuktu provides a lackadaisical, piano-heavy beat to create a breezy summertime vibe as a backdrop for the sweaty lyrics of himself, Chokeules (also of Toolshed), Wordburglar, Jesse Dangerously, Jay Bizzy, and Thesis Sahib with his crazed but catchy hook. Out as of Monday, January 16, 2012, the video is produced and directed by 3:AM Design with welcome assistance from the legions of awesome Backburner fans who financed the production through their kindly contributions.
ABOUT BACKBURNER
BACKBURNER IS… Fresh Kils, Wordburglar, Timbuktu, More Or Les, Uncle Fes, Ghettosocks, Chokeules, Jesse Dangerously, Jay Bizzy, Thesis Sahib, Beatmason, Frank Deluxe, Dexter Doolittle, Psybo, Ambition, Johnny Hardcore, Manalive, Ginzu333 & Mister E.
Seen another way: Sixteen rappers, seven producers and one DJ.
The first collective effort to bear the Backburner name was a 2001 compilation called Big Talk. Dozens of albums have since been released by groups and individuals flying the Backburner flag, and the dream has always been to squeeze their enormous personalities back into one tight package and blast that package into space like Zod and that chick and the big dude in Superman II. Enter Heatwave...

ABOUT HEATWAVE
It took ten years for the crew to follow up with another collective project, but Heatwave (receiving comparisons to Jurassic 5 and People Under the Stairs or 90s-era Heiroglyphics and Latyrx) has earned the #5 slot on the Top 11 Albums of 2011 list for French site IndieRockMag.com and spent 9 consecutive weeks on Earshot-Online's college radio top ten hip hop charts, while Hex, host of The Nerdy Show and founder of nerdcore festival Nerdapalooza, recognized the merits of the song "Heatwave" with a #13 position on his Top 20 Tracks of 2011. The video is produced and directed by 3:AM Design (http://www.3am-design.com/).
